Explosion-Proof & Non-Leak Probes--
The only, truly, integrally-mounted explosion-proof capacitance probe -- anywhere!

Do you have Capacitance/RF Capacitance (Admittance or Impedance) level instruments in your plant?  Are they in hazardous areas, with the instrument housings and the probes mounted integrally?

If you answered yes to both of these questions, you may have a BIG problem on your hands.  Barrier isolated, intrinsically safe instruments are OK, but standard Capacitance/RF Capacitance (Admittance or Impedance) probes can't be integrally mounted and still meet the National Electric Code.  To meet the National Electric Code (Article 501-5(a)) , an explosion-proof enclosure must have a flame-proof seal within 18" of all conduit openings.  Figure #1 is an example of typical installation.  However, this installation still is not correct, because there must be a flame-proof seal between the explosion-proof probe housing and the probe (see Figure #2).

Penberthy's NEW WAVE CAPACITANCE™ solves this dilemma with the only FM-approved/CSA-certified intrinsically safe and explosion-proof (multiple patented) probe (see Figure #3).  The mounting gland acts as a flame-proof sealoff, so that an external seal fitting is unnecessary.  Best of all, if you have this problem, you don't have to replace the entire instrument.  Penberthy's Series SCX explosion-proof probes are FM-approved/CSA-certified as stand alone items.  This means that you can keep your existing instrument (replace the probe only), and meet the National Electric Code.  While we prefer you to use our NEW WAVE CAPACITANCE™ level instruments, your safety is our primary concern.
